A face score is a quick, fun reading of one photograph. Used carefully it can be interesting; used carelessly it is easy to over-read. Here is a plain checklist for adults 18+ who try tools like the Free Attractiveness Test.

  1. Know the scale. This test uses 60–99 with 80 in the middle. A 1–10 site is a different scale, and the two numbers are not interchangeable.
  2. Read the band, not only the digit. Natural Charm is 60–69, Glowing 70–79, Radiant 80–89 and Dazzling 90–99. One point can move you across a band name without the photo changing much.
  3. Understand "Top X%". In the upper half you also get a Top X% figure. Top 20% means a higher score than 80% of the portraits in the comparison set, not of the people you know.
  4. Ask how it was checked. A good tool tells you how well it agrees with human raters. Here it is a correlation of 0.84 on unseen faces and about 0.6 on a harder, more varied set. Lower on varied sets is a real limit, so treat results as approximate.
  5. Ask what was removed. Rater preference for lighter skin was taken out of the training ratings, and the tool never asks your gender. Those are the kinds of questions worth asking of any scorer.
  6. Expect the same answer for the same file. Same photo, same score. Compare different photos if you want to see what changes, since lighting, angle and expression all matter.
  7. Check where the photo goes. This tool runs in your browser using MediaPipe and ONNX Runtime Web, and the photo, landmarks and score stay on your device. For any tool, look for a clear statement like that.
  8. Remember the scope. A score describes one photo, not a person.

More detail on the method is on the how it works page.
